Bethesda Christian Church

The Nineties

The last decade of the 1900s was breathtaking, anxiety producing, and promising. The Hubble Telescope was launched Into Space. Lech Walesa became First President of Poland. Nelson Mandela of South Africa was freed from prison. We saw the collapse of the Soviet Union. Operation Desert Storm found American troops in the Middle East. The Cold War officially ended. Riots erupted in Los Angeles after the Rodney King Verdict. the Oklahoma City Bombing of a federal building killed 168 people. The Euro was introduced as the new European currency. International fear spread over the Y2K Bug, and the deadliest day at an American high school occurred at Columbine High School.

In the midst of all the commotion and world nervousness Bethesda built a new church garage addition, broke ground and completed the new Family Center that would house the Bethesda Christian School with its auditorium, two gymnasiums, dining facilities, ample classrooms and library. Time was marching on and we were marching with it!
